The role is offered casually through Spinifex Recruiting, full time Monday to Friday. We are looking for an Asset Services Officer that will work in the Grafton office of a state government department. The position will provide a full range of asset services to a group of schools and include delivery of capital works projects and all aspects of facilities management. This role is the single point of contact to provide advice and deal with facilities management issues as they arise.

The key accountabilities are as follows:

  • Delivery of capital works projects and all aspects of facilities management
  • Develop and manage sound working relationships with Schools and TAFE key stakeholders including community groups to facilitate asset service delivery across the portfolio
  • Prepare all required documentation including project briefs, status reports, financial information and record keeping relating to the delivery of capital and facilities management projects in schools and TAFE colleges.
  • Provide a point of contact for Principals and College Managers for all capital works and facilities management enquiries for identified facilities
  • Work with stakeholders to develop lease and licence agreements for other users such as children’s services, markets and sports fields
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors and other asset management staff engaged in the development, design and construction phases of projects
  • Monitor and report on project progress. Includes involvement in the development of technical specifications and layouts for individual minor capital and facilities management projects
  • Monitor project compliance with relevant guidelines such as Building Code of Australia and WH&S legislation
  • Undertake analysis of financial position of minor capital and facilities management programs
  • Coordinate timely responses following emergencies such as fire, flood and storm damage.

The successful candidate will also require:

  • Professionally deal with contentious asset related issues to achieve the best outcome for students, staff and the Department
  • Exceptional stakeholder management
  • Experience in facility management and or in capital works projects
  • Maintain a high standard of quality service and advice to clients, manage tight deadlines, and deliver capital works and facilities management over numerous sites.
  • Being solutions driven
  • Two recent references
  • Police checks (or willing to obtain)
  • Working with children check (or willing to obtain)
