Customer Service Officer

  • Part-time opportunity
  • 4-month contract with immediate start
  • Wollongong NSW Location

Spinifex Recruiting is seeking an experienced Customer Service Officer to join a high-volume call centre in Wollongong NSW.

Key accountabilities

  • Deal with incoming customer calls, correspondence and enquiries, including account queries, and the processing of orders and payments. These customers may be external or internal, domestic or commercial.
  • Adhere to and communicate to customers and staff alike, all company statutory regulations.
  • Liaise with customers, dealers and suppliers’ contractors as required.
  • Ensure all customer records are updated
  • Control and liaise with retail outlets for winter package deals and frequent filler appliance purchases and process resultant accounts.
  • Take overflow calls from other centres and liaise with other centres regarding customers.
  • Set up new domestic or commercial accounts.
  • Process creditor’s invoices.
  • Organise appliance enquiries, invoicing, ordering, and stocktake.
  • Sell appliances and arrange for appliances to be installed.
  • Process banking and mail and take to Bank/Post Office.
  • Manage all aspects of debtor control for customers


It is essential you have:

  • Demonstrated relevant clerical / secretarial and administrative experience.
  • Previous Customer Service experience is preferable but not necessary. However, a good level of understanding, tolerance and common sense with people is essential.
  • Highly developed verbal, telephone and written communication skills and the ability to liaise and consult with both internal, external clients and staff with a strong customer service focus.
  • Initiative, organisational skills and flexibility to operate in both a team environment and independently.
  • An ability to prioritise, and effectively achieve deadlines.
  • Some knowledge of local area geography would be an advantage.
  • Experience to identify and deal effectively with difficult situations and conflict.
  • Sound and relevant computer and keyboard skills (including proficiency in data base entry).
  • Ability to multi-task, share team responsibilities to maintain maximum monitoring level of prompt, efficient and courteous customer service.
